Heya,
Well today was better. I have breathing problems in the pool too and on wednesday it finally got the best of me and I quit my workout. I had just finished a set of ummm I forget what it was I just remember nearly hyperventilating between reps. Then I was to do a 400m tt and a 1k tt. I did the 400 and started the 1k and that's about the time I threw in the towel. Just fed up!! It's not a huge huge problem like some others of you that read my blog, but just enough to annoy me on certain sets. Especially the sets that involve very little recovery, or even no recovery, right Chuckie? You know my favorites, ha ha. Anyways as Chuckie says oh what does he say again, hang on I'll check it up...."Never place too much stock in a single workout, good or bad." But it's not just a single workout I often have problems breathing and it's frustrating!! Anyways today I was to do the 1k tt again and I'm happy to say it went much better. Sure I was pooped for the stuff after, but at least I shaved off like 30secs off last times tt so I'll be happy for now. Lisa says I should see a doctor, I'm not convinced. I have in the past, they didn't do much for me then. I guess it could have progressed? Not sure... Over,

Solid tt this morning
Greg and I met at 6am. Man it never seems to get easier eh, jumping into the cold water when the only thing you really want to do is curl up under a warm blanket and sleep!!! Oh well, it helps when you know you can't call early and cancel, somthing about pride and not wanting to be the wuss.
So we jumped in a lil late actually 6:15 and started off with a longer set of 50s, half involving paddles, then it was onto the TT. Yayyyy, I was really nervous, well not super nervous, I just didn't want to blow it. Using the paddles before the tt had me a bit worried too, would my shoulders be beat? Oh well Chuckie must know what he's doing so I trusted that it would go well. I let Greg go first and waited till he got to the opposite end and then I started. That way we could still push each other, yet no drafting for me(I love to draft!!). I started out really relaxed and my arms actually felt ok, tired but ok. I was surprised, Greg and I were keeping for the most part dead even. It was a lil fun cat and mouse game. I had started out just before he hit the wall at 25m so every lap I'd try and get to my wall before he got to his so I knew I was keeping pace. Chuckie wanted the 500m split so at 20 laps I stopped to hit the button, damn that is really hard to hit the lap button on a watch in the middle of a timed swim when you're trying to match someone who's generally a touch faster than you are. I lost a bit there and at one point reaching the wall and turning Greg turned at the exact same time. Arughhh better try to pick it up, so I tried to push a bit harder and managed to get my advantage back just a bit. So we see sawed back and forth, at the end he came in 5 seconds ahead of me. My splits were dead even though at 8:32-500m, 17:05 for the 1k. Not too bad, but I was secretly hoping I'd go a touch faster. This swimming stuff is tough work!!

Race Season all set
Heya,
Well I think I got my racing figured out, at least pre-cda. Talking with Chuckie I figure I can do two half mary's and a oly. I really wanted to do a Half IM but it just doesn't work with out having to travel or do a different IM.
Yesterday had a really good couple of rides. Chuckie made the mistake of telling me I could do them back to back. Me waking up in the morning and thinking bed, double bike, bed double bike. Weighing the odds, and honestly I could have woke up early to do one of the rides. I've been waking up early for workouts twice a week for the past month. But this time it wasn't to be and I shut off the alarm rolled over and dozed off. The rides proved to be tough and my legs hurt a lot, so much so that I couldn't really sleep well the next night. But I had a smile on my face the whole time tossing and turning. You know that feeling when you can barely walk you're hurting so bad, but the workout was a success. It hurts sooooooo good as they say. Fighting through the demons in training = successful race day right??? Oh I also earnt another Carlos V bar, that's 2 for the season. Ohhhhhh I better get them at the cda finish line ok Chuckie??? I'll wolf them all down similarly to your Big Macs. Ohhhhh yes I remember reading about that one. Somthing about you ordering 5 big macs while in the last miles at IMC, then having them delivered to the finish where you scarfed them all down?? ha ha my hero(specially since that's my weap of choice, burger that is).
Cam you doing the Calgary half? I'm in and I think Curtis is in, you can stay at his or my house np at all. Cheers,

The Night I Spent With Craig “Crowie” Alexander
http://www.sarahlavendersmith.com/2010/02/craig-crowie-alexander/
“What do you do?” I asked him.
“I’m a professional athlete,” he said in a lilting Aussie accent, as unassuming as if he had said, “I work in an ice cream shop.” I prodded further about his sport and he said, “I do triathlons.”
“So,” I asked casually, “how’d you do in Kona?”
Little did I know that’s sort of like asking Michael Phelps, So, how’d it go for you in Beijing?
“I won the last two years,” he said.

I'm pooped
Heya!!
Had a 2 hour run this morning, a bunch of it was at threshold effort. Yikes I had to dig deep to get through it. With about 20min left in the 90min hard section I tried to focus on what I'll feel like finishing IM cda. This always works to get me through, I just focus on what it'll feel like when I finally float in under 10 hours and put myself within kona striking distance. Not today though I couldn't even concentrate on that for longer than 1 minute before I'm watching the clock again. Trying to move the numbers forward. Anyhow I got through it ok, the legs were heavy from yesterday's training, Chuckie predicted that. It's all good, now I get to chill, recover a bit before the evening spin.
Lately I've had the silliest lil problem. I haven't bugged Chuckie about it yet since it still isn't anything to worry about. You'll laugh when you hear what it is.... my big toe. Yes that's right my big toe. I don't even know why, I just know it's been hurting and getting worse for about 2-3 weeks? It never hurt me during workouts, just after. Although on thursday's double run day it finally started bothering me to the point of where I was favoring it. My running shoes and cycling shoes have enough room in them, I think it's from my work shoes actually, that's why it didn't bother me during workouts(till thurs). So anyways thusday evening it became painful to the point where I was limping at work friday. So the last couple of nights I took polysporin and covered the toe and slept with a sock on that foot. Two nights, two nights!!! and it's almost gone. I was actually getting worried about it and mentioned to Greg I can't stop running now I'm running so damn well!! Oh well I'm happy to say it's gone now. Polysporin is good for saddle sores and now add BIG TOES to that list!!
Lisa asked if we(as in me) could have sunday off for valentines. lol so I had to write Chuckie to ask for a day off on sunday. I haven't actually had a full day off in 3-4 weeks?? Bout time for one and he was happy to give it and even mentioned Lisa and I could do some cross training?? /shrug I have no clue what he was talking about. ;) Ok I'm gonna go put up my feet and watch hockey. D-out

Top Secret Chuckie workout
This was the third workout of the day for Jan 30th. He actually had me going for about 2 sentences and very worried, I HATE squats!!
3) midnight) Mandatory Squat Workout at the gym … Balls to the floor each time with enough weight on the bar to have it bending and bouncing. Darryl, try to do 3 sets of 3 repetitions with the MOST weight you can possibly manage, and then some. Be sure to grunt loudly, as though you were a body-builder, so that you frighten small animals and even smaller children. (Wait! What are they doing up at midnight?!) Impress the other sweaty, hairy men at the 24-hour gym by wearing a thong while doing this. Darryl, I’m kidding of course. Do NOT head to the gym and squat!
